What's this?
In an election year consumed by political violence, Democratic presidential candidate Anna Hoffman warns that her opponent, Mack Leach—the Red Caesar—will turn America into an authoritarian state. After a confrontation with a book burner, grieving Admiral Liam Driscoll joins Anna's campaign and recruits a Stanford PhD student developing the Truth Chamber, an AI interrogation technology, to uncover who is orchestrating the violence and an assassination attempt on Anna. As the team leaks explosive recordings to expose disinformation, they discover that truth itself has become a political weapon. Forced to choose between protecting democracy and compromising constitutional ideals, they uncover a deeper conspiracy in which Leach is only a pawn. Blending political thriller and speculative fiction, The Truth Chamber explores the fragility of democracy, the power of AI, and the cost of defending the truth.
Duncan Ritchie is a former (recovering) investment banker and author of the political thriller, The Truth Chamber. Concerned by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine (again) and the rise of right-wing extremism, Duncan began scribbling down what-if scenarios in 2022. At the core were the questions: if someone wanted to bring America to her knees and disturb the world order, how would they go about it? And what could be done to counter that? Those what-ifs became the foundation of The Truth Chamber, initially intended as a warning of the rise of fascism in America.
