Ripped from the depths of time, she is now a monster forged in fire itself. Her secret can never be revealed, for in early medieval Scotland, superstition runs deep. Bronach is the name she took, as her own is lost in the caverns of her mind. Nightmares taunt her with a future filled with danger. All she wants is to survive, but tragedy and death lurk in the shadows, and when her nightmares become her reality, the monster within her takes control.

Thrust further away from her past, she is plunged into the realm of Somerled, King of the Isles. To secure her safety, she agrees to a marriage of convenience with his warrior nephew. Now she has another chance to belong. However, fate has woven them together, and history is about to tear them apart. In a tangled web of events leading to the Battle of Renfrew, she must risk everything and be brave enough to harness the monster within to save those she loves.

Scotland is rich in history, myths and legends, but it was only as an adult that I became fascinated with the country where I was born and bred. Scotland’s history is difficult to uncover, as so much has been lost, suppressed and dismissed, and that is what drove me to write. This is the first in a proposed series. I am a member of various writing groups, including the Historical Novel Society and The History Quill. Over the last several years, I have undertaken extensive research to ensure authenticity and many online courses to develop my craft.
