Imperfectly Framed – Origins is a historical fantasy novel set in the city-state of Miletus during the seventh century BC. It is written in the style of high fantasy, and its narrative, which is peppered with elements of Greek mythology and Homeric prose, involves a wizards’ quest to defeat an evil necromancer, and a political turmoil that changes the age.

When Thea and her mother Miriam rescue the wizard Sitota, he grants them each one wish. Thea asks that she and her brother Pan may live forever—a wish the wizard fulfills by making them the living manifestations of their portraits. Imperfectly Framed – Origins gives an account of the events leading up to the advent of Thea and Pan's journey through time.
John Cornell is a Houston‑based fiction writer whose work explores the historical, the surreal and the supernatural through characters driven narratives. Outside of writing, he can usually be found reading, at the gym, or wandering the neighborhood with his dog, Simba.
