Matthias Keller, a young Wehrmacht officer, has become disillusioned to the Nazi war effort after processing several empty Nacht and Nebel (Night and Fog) administrative files. During the patrol, he discovers Jakob Weiss hiding in a haystack after escaping from Natzweiler during a routine granite blast. Matthias, whose father is a Wehrmacht Lieutenant General in charge of the entire logistic network, makes the decision to aid Jakob in reaching Switzerland and finding his family. The two unlikely allies navigate the complicated logistic network and dangers along the way, needing to rely on each other for survival.

I've always loved writing. My high school English teacher said I had abundant creativity and a talent for writing. After finding a old letter from a ancestor who was a soldier in the US military during WWII stationed in France, it rekindled my love for historical research and writing and led me to drafting my first manuscript. This ancestor had the last name HUGO...so I'll let your imagination run wild with who our ancestor may be. I've been married for 16 years and have two amazing daughters that encourage me to follow my love of writing.
