In 1975, Erin escapes a chaotic home and brutal adolescence the only way she knows: through books. But when she discovers how to enter others’ dreams, fantasy becomes more than refuge: it becomes power. As dreaming, reading, and writing merge, Erin finds a way to fight back, reinvent herself, and seize the life the real world keeps denying her.

What's this?
When in a guided trance led by one of her mother’s New Age acquaintances, Erin enters an interior realm where she finds the Bōc drēama—a dream-book through which she can enter the dreams of people around her. Here, she discovers that fantasy is not merely escape but access and a form of power. Alongside her best friend Eve and a witty, eccentric transfer student named Norman, Erin uses the dream world to invade the inner lives of teachers, classmates, family members, and enemies, retaliating against humiliations she cannot answer in waking life.
I have an MA in Anthropology and an MLS, and I have worked as a librarian. A lifelong avid reader, I bring to this novel a deep interest in books, imagination, and the private worlds that literature can open.
